VGA: stands for Video Graphics Array. this screen disappeared years ago. You may see them adopted in the very old notebooks for the maximum resolution is 640 × 480. But there are still some small portable devices that are still used this screen.

SVGA: full name is Super Video Graphics Array. It's the substitution of the VGA screen. Its  greatest support is 800 × 600 resolution. And screen size is 12.1 inch. As the lower pixel of the screen, the current use is extremely rare.

XGA: the Extended Graphics Array, which is a currently widely used as a laptop LCD screen which nearly take up 80% of the notebook in recent market. It supports 1024 × 768 maximum resolution. And screen size is ranging from 10.4 inches, 12.1 inches, 13.3 inches to 14.1 inches, 15.1 inches.

SXGA +: Super Extended Graphics Array is an extension of SXGA. SXGA + is designed specifically for laptop screens. The display resolution is 1400 × 1050. The accuracy of the display is higher than the ordinary 17-inch desktop LCD screen.

UVGA: Ultra Video Graphics Array. This 15-inch screen uses in the notebook screen as to support the maximum resolution of 1600 × 1200. Because of the advanced technology, the price is also higher than other screen. Only a small number of top mobile workstations equipped with the type of screen.

Today, it is the most common appellation of the 1024768 pixels display resolution, but the official definition is broader than that.
