How to Change a Motherboard in an Acer Laptop

Changing the motherboard of your Acer laptop may be due to two reasons. It may no longer load the operating system, or will not power on. The replacement process may take awhile because of the components that need to be removed first.

Start the process by shutting down the laptop. Make sure to wait until it is finish powering down before unplugging the power cable and other cords. Then close it and place it on its back. Take the battery out and loosen the screws of all four sides. After that, turn the unit back over and open the lid. Then get a screwdriver with a flat end and slide it beneath the plastic piece under the screen, where the power button and indicator lights are located. Twist the screwdriver until the plastic piece comes off and detach the cable that runs from it towards the motherboard. The next step is to pull out the screws and lift the keyboard until the cable is seen. Separate the keyboard and again unscrew the hubs that secure the lid hinges and take them out. Then look for the processor cooling fan and heat sink assembly at the right side of the motherboard. Remove the screws, fan and the heat sink assembly. Hold the two sides of the visible processor and pull it straight up. Loosen the remaining screws and carefully remove the motherboard out of the case. Then get the new one and put it into the case and just reattach the screws. You can just reassemble the other parts in reverse. The process is finished once you turn it on and wait for the operating system to fully load in order for it to function properly.

Replacing the motherboard is usually time-consuming for Acer laptops. However, if you know how to dismantle and put it all back, it will not be that difficult. So try to search more about discount laptop.
