VGA Switch: Allows switching between multiple video sources
A VGA Switch can be used to switch video from multiple sources to one display device. The main advantage is that it eliminates the hassle of plugging and unplugging in VGA cables repeatedly between sources. It functions by connecting the VGA video sources and display to the VGA switch with standard SVGA cables reducing cost and saving space. Using this device, multiple computers can share a single video display which has a VGA port. It also allows one monitor to be switched between two or more video sources while maintaining video integrity and clarity.
These switches can be cascaded in order to transmit multiple VGA signals on one output device. In complex applications, these switches can be connected with video splitters or other video devices. A VGA Switcher is available in a wide range of sizes starting with 2 ports and going up to 8 ports. They provide crisp and clear images with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 @ 60 Hz and a frequency of 250 MHz. The input signals remain consistent and there is no degradation in the quality of video output. Switching of the signals is done via push buttons in front of the unit or via infra red remote control. They support the DDC1, DDC2, DDC2B, DDC2B+, DDC2AB protocols and are CE, FCC, RoHS compliant.
These switches are hot pluggable and do not require any additional software for operation. Available in many types, the high end models of these video switchers come with a wireless remote for port selection, on screen display and auto scan mode. They are also available in matrix models supporting 2x2, 2x4, 2x8, 2x16, 4x4, 8x8, 16x16 formats whereby multiple video inputs can be connected with multiple video outputs. Control of these complex switches is done through RS232, Infrared or TCP/IP in addition to the standard pushbuttons. PCs, MACs and SUNs with VGA video along with VHS or DVD players support all models of these switches. These switches become essential in arenas where switching between multiple video sources is needed. Hence they find their use in Hotels, Restaurants, Classrooms, Casinos, Presentation & Training facilities, CAD applications, Graphic Designing fields, Conference Rooms, Gaming Arenas etc. Control Centers and Remote monitoring facilities also require the VGA Switch.
