That’s why netbooks or mini-notebooks are born. Based on the name, you know that they are smaller versions of your chunkier personal computers. They perform almost all the usual functions. They may even have all the features, such as Wifi connection, CD or DVD ROM and Writer, and USB connectors. The only difference is that you tuck these netbooks inside your bags.
There are already a lot of mini-notebooks that are available in the market, and the competition is actually very tough. To help you when it comes to choosing the most ideal netbook for you, get to know their features and benefits:
OLPC XO. If you’re a certified giver or blessed with a compassionate heart, this is the ultra-mobile PC that you should buy. It has a very small base price. You can get this at less than 200 dollars. Most of all, every time that you’re going to buy one; you’re actually helping the education of the less fortunate. The device, as a matter of fact, has been conceived for the One Laptop Per Child program. There’s no other way for you to buy this one than through Give One, Get One, which can be available in Amazon. For you to buy this ultra-mobile PC, you need to make a donation, which will then be reduced from the bundle. You have to know, though, that compared to most notebooks, this one is heavier at 3.2 pounds.
HP 2133 Mini-Note. You will learn to appreciate its bigger battery, which means that you can run the mini-notebook for longer hours without electricity. What’s more, it has a full-sized keyboard, which prevents you from pressing the wrong keys when you’re typing. It can also run the newest version of Windows, which is Vista. It doesn’t come close to that of Asus, which produces real cheap netbooks. The entry price of this netbook is at $500. If you want one that has the better features, you may have to spend close to a thousand.
Lenovo IdeaPad S10. This is one of the most current mini-notebooks that are sold in the market, and it’s easy to carry at 2.65 lbs. The good thing about this one is that it runs in Windows XP and has a very powerful processor. It also possesses huge hard disk drive. You may have to get used to the keyboard and the track pad, though.
Asus Eee PC 900. When Asus came into the market, it presented some stiff competition among the netbooks. For one, it’s very affordable. It will not cost you more than $500 to get one. It can also run in your operating system of choice, whether Linux or Windows. You can also take a pick on the sizes of your memory and screen. The only thing that you need to watch out for is the size of the keyboard, which feels cramped.
Dell Inspiron Mini 9. Dell has also come up with its own mini-notebook that is about to raise the competition even more. It comes with a very cheap entry price, pegged at $349.99. However, you will love its full-sized keyboard, which is very easy to use and comfortable to touch. The keys are also raised, so you can be sure to press the right keys. It has a series of ports, which include VGA port, memory card reader, USB ports, and Ethernet and headphone jacks.
