Update Your Sound Blaster Live With the Latest Sound Card Drivers

So you have gotten yourself one of the best sound cards on the market. A Sound Blaster Live sound card. Then you upgraded Windows, or bought and installed a new program. Maybe you just updated Windows, but whatever it is you did the fact of the matter is now your sound isn't working right anymore. This is because you need the latest sound card drivers. An easy remedy for a minor problem.

 

Why Do Your Drivers Need to be Updated?

 

Technology is constantly evolving. Windows is constantly changing to fix bugs and improve the operating system's functionality. This means it changes how it interacts with your hardware. So this also means the software that allows Windows to interact with your hardware, known as drivers, needs to be updated on occasion to keep up with the changes.

 

If you don't keep on top of your drivers and keep them up to date, you will eventually come across errors and instances where, for example, you get no sound in programs when your sound drivers need to be updated. Depending on how heavily you rely on your sound card, no sound can be a minor irritation or a big problem if you use your computer to make conference calls on a regular basis.

 

How to Update Your Sound Blaster Live Sound Card Drivers

 

1.    Go to http://support.creative.com/

2.    Click on Sound Blaster

3.    There will be a list of the top selling Sound Blaster cards listed, with a link to other lines of Sound Blaster cards at the bottom. Find your card from those listed and download the driver. (If you need help identifying your card go to Start > Search Bar > type in Device Manager > click Continue > click the + next to Sound, video, and game controllers and find the model of Sound Blaster there.) Make sure to take note of where you save the driver.

4.    Go to Start

5.    Go to the Search Bar

6.    Type in Device Manager

7.    When the window pops up click Continue

8.    Click the + next to Sound, video, and game controllers

9.    Double click the Sound Blaster device

10.   Click the Update Driver button

11.   Choose to Browse your computer for the drive location and direct it to where you saved the driver

12.   At this point, your computer may want to restart to get the driver fully installed. We suggest you let it do so immediately.
