Lack of Shutdown Notification results in Loss of Data
To initiate any shutdown processing for a hard drive volume with a basic disk signature, a system file named “Scsiport.sys” sends a hwStartIo SRB_FUNCTION_SHUTDOWN event to the SCSI miniport. However, for a hard drive volume with dynamic disk signature, the above event does not occur any dynamic formatted volumes if the value for PORT_CONFIGURATION_INFORMATION CachesData parameter is set to TRUE. This results in loss of data from your hard drive. To overcome such data loss scenarios, an ideal way is to restore data from an updated backup. However, if you have not maintained any backup or backup falls short to restore the required information, then you will need to use advanced Data Recovery application that can completely recover your lost data.
Two main issues that can occur in case of a RAID controller adapter are discussed below:

To clear the write-back cache or the controller cache, the RAID controller relies on the shutdown IRP.

The volume cleanup and shutdown does not occur the shutdown event does not gets signaled. This could result in re-initialization of RAID volume. The re-initialization could take several hours, resulting in low performance and potential data loss.
Resolution:
To troubleshoot and resolve the above error message, you will to reactivate the failed volume and run CHKDSK utility on the affected hard drive volume. However, if the utility fails to resolve your problem, then you will need to obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. Once, you have installed the latest service pack, then you will need to restart your system.
