CCTV Video Shows ‘Good Samaritan' Tackling Bank Robber
The Good Samaritan who detained a bank robber in Wyoming watched the CCTV video for the first time Tuesday.
Maston Conley says he saw the suspect stealing money from the teller at the PNC bank on 28th Street back on May 17th.
He remembers it like it was yesterday. He was cashing his check at the next counter, when 24-year old Glen Shepard walked in.
In the video, you can see Shepard reach across the counter and take several stacks of cash. As he tried to escape, Conley tackled him at the door.
Conley says the struggle continued for a few minutes, until he finally pinned Shepard down.
When police arrived, Shepard was taken into custody. Conley went back to work. He says he was praised for his brave actions. His son calls him a hero.
"He cut out an article and had me sign it and he's got it in a picture frame. My son does," says Conley.
Conley feels good about what he did, but he admits, he doesn't know if he would do it again. He knows he could have been hurt.
"I have a lot to lose. I have my son I wasn't thinking of. I could have lost a lot of things," Conley says.
Shepard was later charged with one count of bank robbery. He recently pleaded guilty and will be sentenced October 26th. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
