Keeps on improving
We've used several versions of Photoshop Elements starting with version 1. It just gets better and better. And there are more and more books out there to make life even easier with Elements. The cost of the full Photoshop simply can't be justified by most home users, and most of the important functions for even rather advanced home use are still available in Elements, so it seems to be a no-brainer. We also purchased "Adobe Photoshop Elements Elements 8" from Amazon, and it has made use of Elements 8 even easier. We highly recommend each.
Despite some of the "it'll crash your system" reviews, it loaded easily on my wife's computer without problems. She's got 2GB of RAM on a Windows XP system, relatively fast processor, but nothing fancy or expensive. Yet Elements has done just fine. I don't know what else someone could want, except perhaps better documentation from Adobe. Sadly, it takes 3rd party books to make it relatively easy to use, but that seems about standard for most software anymore.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 8
I found this product to be very helpful (however not very user intuitive). More as I get to know the product I am learning how to use it. I enjoy taking photos and am impressed with how well it improves my pictures. I have had several compliments about how my photos are improving.
Adobe should make driver changes available
Elements is a good photo editor. I had Elements 6 and now have Elements 8. While there must be changes between Elements 6 and 8 I cannot see any.
My copy of Elements 6 had drivers for a 32 bit machine. I now have a new 64 bit PC. Adobe 6 would not function because of this change. Adobe did not offer 64 bit drivers for download. Most other software and hardware manufacturers do make available such drivers.
So instead of having $$ for a VERY nice dinner and movie we have a Elements 8, (which works the same as 6 as far as I can see).
Not full package
I was expecting to receive the full package, box and all, when I order this version of Adobe Photoshop but instead received the single CD in a cardboard slipcase with nothing else accompanying it. Additionally on the CD it says that the disc is for bundles only and not to be sold separately. I don't exactly know if the seller did something illegal by selling the CD alone but nonetheless I feel uncomfortable with the whole transaction. I don't have any manual or anything that should have come with the product and feel that I should have at least been informed of this before buying the product instead of expecting to receive a new product.
