ASUS P8H67-M PRO Review

If you're looking for a budget PC with a basic setup and advance features the P8H67-M PRO is right for you. Let's take a look what this motherboard can do.

The ASUS P8H67-M PRO motherboard supports the Sandy Bridge the latest Intel second generation Core i7/Core i5/Core i3 processors in the LGA1155 package in a micro ATX form factor, with integrated memory and PCI Express controllers to support 2-channel (4 DIMM) DDR3 memory Maximum of 32 GB and 16 PCI Express 2.0 lanes 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 [blue] (at x16 mode), 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 [black] (at x4 mode, compatible with PCIe x1, x2 and x4 devices), 2 x PCI. It supports ATI Quad-GPU CrossFireX only.

Other ports 2 xSATA 6.0 Gb/s ports (gray), 4 xSATA 3.0 Gb/s ports (blue), 1 x UltraDMA 133/100 for up to 2 PATA devices, 2 x USB 3.0/2.0 ports (blue, at the back I/O), 14 x USB 2.0/1.1 ports (10 ports at mid-board, 4 ports at back panel), Gigabit LAN controller.

The ASUS P8H67-M PRO is built with Intel H67 Express the latest single-chipset design that supports the new socket 1155 Intel Core i3 /Core i5/Core i7 2nd generation processors. The H67 comes with 2 SATA 6Gb/s and 4 SATA 3Gb/s ports for faster data retrieval. The H67 Chipset enables the internal GPU function of the Sandy Bridge processor.

This motherboard is equipped with the GPU Boost function that accelerates the integrated GPU for extreme graphics performance. The user-friendly interface facilitates flexible frequency adjustments. Onboard GPU supports DVI with max resolution 1920 x 1200@60Hz, RGB with max resolution 2048 x 1536@75Hz, with maximum shared memory of 1748 MB.

It has a user friendly OC tools that allows you to use the processor turbo boost mode via TurboV without rebooting your computer. This is back up by the Auto tuning intelligent system tools that provides stability. It also supports the memory OK that quickly ensures memory boot compatibility.

Other advanced features of this board is the EFI BIOS that makes it easier for you to navigate on BIOS using mouse unlike the traditional keyboard only BIOS control. The ASUS EFI BIOS also supports hard drives larger than 2.2TB in 64-bit, with full storage space utilization.

This motherboard also has HDMI output that delivers HD 1080P with max resolution 1920 x 1200@60Hz and S/PDIF output for your home theater support and 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC.

Conclusion

The P8H67-M PRO uses the H67 chipset that enables the Sandy Bridge processors built-in GPU that can saves you money from buying Video card. In this case the Quick Sync features will be useful which is great for transcoding and video editing applications. The limitations for this motherboard is the ability to overclock the K series I5/ i7 processors and for the Nvidia SLI configuration, not a gamers stuff. Overall, this is a great motherboard for basic setup needs with lots of new advanced features only from ASUS having a lower tag price for budget conscious.
