HP LaserJet P4014 – Office Printer with Optional 5 Bin Mailbox
It would be hard to beat the HP LaserJet P4014 series' speed within the unit's price range, as the monochrome laser printer is designed specifically for incredible performance in a compact, single function unit. The two printers in the line (the HP LaserJet P4014n and HP LaserJet P4014dn) come out of box as fairly bare bones printers, but have enough expandability options to satisfy any specific printing demand.
With hardware add ons such as the optional 500 sheet, 5 bin mailbox with sorting capability, buyers of the HP LaserJet P4014 models have access to office friendly features that lower grade devices can't offer. Also available for purchase separately is an unprecedented amount of paper storage options including two additional 500 sheet trays and a high capacity 1,500 sheet storage bin. Base paper storage trays included are a 500 sheet standard paper tray, and 100 sheet multipurpose tray for special media types.
When the HP LaserJet P4014 reaches its maximum paper storage, it is capable of holding up to 3,100 sheets. The unit's 500 sheet top output bin is bigger than you will find on almost any other unit in the printer's category, and the device also includes 100 sheet rear output bin that allows thick media to travel through a straight paper path.
The HP LaserJet P4014's maximum monthly duty cycle of 175,000 pages means that, though the unit is small, it is not simply your average desktop laser printer. It is designed for serious output and constant abuse, though HP does state that their recommended monthly duty is only 3,000 to 12,000 pages. If problems do arise, HP backs the printer with a one year limited warranty. Extended 3 year warranties are also available from HP directly.
HP's Instant On technology is not only energy efficient to the degree of up to 50% savings, it also reduces warm up time to virtually zero, and allows for a first page out time of a lighting fast 8.5 seconds. A 540 MHz processor helps to keep things moving along at top speed, along with 128 MBs of included memory which is expandable up to 640 MBs via a single 144 pin DIMM slot.
Both the HP LaserJet P4014n and HP LaserJet P4014dn models come equipped with network capabilities, but only the "dn" model includes a built in automatic duplexor. With automatic duplexing, double sided, professional looking output is made easy, and paper consumption can be reduced by as much as half, while the HP Jetdirect embedded Gigabit Ethernet server keeps networking fast, and easy.
A single EIO expansion slot can support an optional parallel card for different connectivity options, a hard disk for permanent storage of important data, and various Jetdirect print servers including a wireless networking option. A single Hi Speed USB 2.0 port is available for a direct connection setup, as well as one additional external, and two additional internal, Host USB 2.0 ports for third party connections, making the HP LaserJet P4014's connectivity, like its speed, almost unparalleled among similar printers on the market.
