PBAX Phone Systems Functions
PBAX systems offer a number of services that make business calling an easy and efficient task. Many times you might be unavailable or not on the office premises; in such cases, with the help of PBAX systems, you can still receive your phone calls and make sure that important decisions are made on time.
The PBX system often includes these components:
- A PBX’s internal switching network.
- Logic cards, control and switching cards, power cards and other related devices that enhance the PBX functions.
- Microcomputer or a microcontroller for the arbitrary data processing, logic and control.
- Outside Telco trunks that deliver the signals and also carry them to and from the PBX.
- Telephone sets or stations that are sometimes called lines.
- Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), which consists of power switches, sensors and batteries.
- Interconnecting wires.
- Switchboards or console that allows the operator to control the incoming calls.
- Closets, cabinets, vaults and other necessary housing.
Currently there are four distinct operations in use:
- PBX, which is the Private and Circuit Switched.
- IP PBX that is, the Private and Packet Switched.
- Hosted or Virtual PBX, that is, the traditional Centrex, which is hosted or circuit switched.
- IP Centrex or the Virtual/Hosted IP, which is hosted or packet switched.
If you are looking for a business phone system for your office, then you could avail a PBAX system with ITT Communication. For more information, please visit http://www.ittcoms.com.au.
Private Branch Exchange Functions:
As the main functions of the exchange, it caters to the main four call processing duties, like:
- Establishing circuits or connections between the telephone sets of two users. For example, the mapping is done for a dialled number to a physical phone, ensuring that the phone isn’t already busy.
- Another function is to maintain the connection as the long as the user requires it.
- Disconnecting the line as per the user’s request.
- Providing information for accounting purposes, like for when metering calls.
- In addition to these functions, most PBXs offer many other calling features.
Other functions offered by many, but not all are:
- Auto dialling
- Auto attendant
- Call accounting
- Call pick-up
- Busy override
- Direct Inward System Access (DISA); this is the ability to link the access to the internal features from an outside telephone line
- (DND) Do not disturb
- Camp-on
- Call transfer
- Automatic ring back
- Automatic call distributor
- Call forwarding on busy or absence
- Interactive voice response
- Night service
- Music on hold
- Custom greetings
- Busy override
- Voice mail
- Call pick-up
- Call waiting
- Welcome message
- Voice message broadcasting
- Call park
- Customised abbreviated dialling (speed dialling)
