Toshiba Satellite L505-GS5037 TruBrite: Laptop Review
The Toshiba Satellite L505-GS5037 TruBrite has recently entered the discussion of the best laptops on the market today. In this article, we will tell you why many people are selecting this laptop over the others.
When we look at laptops, the first thing that often jumps out at us is the price and this Toshiba model, the L505-GS5037 TruBrite, comes in at a very competitive price, under $700 at most locations. Laptops vendors seem to see this as a threshold as we see many great laptops coming in under this price recently.
But then the next question needs to be asked: What does this price tag get you? Obviously, price is meaningless if the product does not have the specifications that you are looking for.
One of the first components that I look at when I see a great price on a laptop from a reputable vendor is the amount of memory in the machine. Today, nothing below 4GB of memory is acceptable in a laptop. While other factors are not as important, like the size of the hard drive (because you will inevitably buy more hard drive space for backups and media storage), the amount of memory in a machine is a determining factor as to how many things that you can be doing at once on your computer.
The second component that I notice is the processor. Combined with memory, the processor will dictate how fast that you can perform all of these tasks that you want to do on your computer everyday. The Toshiba Satellite L505-comes equipped with a 2.13 GHz Intel Core i3-330M dual-core processor which should handle all of the demanding tasks that you throw at it. This processor is also able to handle graphics at a healthy speed which is important in these days of YouTube and endless video streaming from a variety of sources.
Thirdly, we want a good screen on the laptop. As we all know, Toshiba makes some of the best LCD televisions on the marketplace. Thus, if you made the assumption that the screen looks great, you are right. The graphics and built-in monitor of this Toshiba TruBrite laptop equal or surpass all of the competition.
However, if you want to connect your laptop to your TV, this Toshiba does not have one essential ingredient that you may desire: an HDMI port. Strangely, when doing this review, we looked for the HDMI port and found, to our great surprise, that there is not one. This is something that should be standard on all laptops and this Toshiba does not have one.
Finally, the last component that is of essential important to all of us is battery life. At a battery life of just under 4 hours, this Toshiba L505-GS5037 TruBrite does not excel in this category. You can find other models out there at this price, such as the ASUS laptops, that easily double this amount of battery life.
In the end, the Toshiba Satellite L505-GS5037 TruBrite is a very good laptop made by a solid vendor at a great price. However, if HDMI connections or battery life are important considerations, you may want to look elsewhere.
