Bonnie had lived with her husband for more than fifteen years and their marriage was amicable. They loved each other but they didn't spend a lot of time with each other because her husband, Chris, was a politician and he was constantly campaigning or representing their state. Chris hadn't ever envisioned being a state representative, but when a few people recommended that he campaign and he listened to them, he won the election by a landslide. He went off to Washington and left Bonnie alone in their home with the dog. She didn't really mid because she didn't want to go to Washington, so everything was fine between them.

Possibly driven by a midlife crisis, Bonnie decided that she needed to move away from the city and escape from the sounds of sirens and the air pollution. Even though the city was relatively small, it was still a city and she had some inner desire to experience the life of the countryside.  She found a plot of land that was located about two hours north of the city and she purchased it and started construction on a small comfortable home.

The property was off the beaten path and the closest town was almost half an hour away. The town had a bank, post office, library, church, and a few small restaurants. She didn't want to have to spend too much time making trips into town, as the whole purpose of her moving was to escape from that life. She opened up a P.O. Box at the town post office, but she only gave the address to a few people, like her husband.

She packed up some things and put the dog in the car and moved northward for an indefinite period of time. She had furnished the house quite nicely and surprisingly the electric company offered service as far out as she lived, she even had a telephone landline, but that was not as reliable as the electricity. In some heavy windstorms or snowstorms she would often lose the phone connection.

One thing she missed from the city life was her high speed internet, but there was no hope of getting cable internet or DSL out where she lived. She was a news junkie, and also a political junkie in part because of her husband, and she needed the news both local and national. The only way to get the paper daily was to drive into the town and she didn't want to do that and waste gas.  

The neighbors had been very friendly when she had moved in, and she decided to ask them about what they did for internet. They showed her their satellite dish which she thought was a normal satellite television dish but in fact it was satellite broadband internet. They told her that it was by far and away the best connection she could get out there.

She ordered one for herself and she could access the local newspaper and the national news from the internet. She could even watch live and recorded broadcasts of the news.
