Laptop Display:LCD screen or LED Screen

Notebook display is one of the key hardwares, accounting for about a quarter of the cost. But there are LCD screen and also LED screen. There must be some differences. But how to distinguish them and how to select one fit yourself. This article specifically describes the differences.

LCD known as liquid crystal display is mainly divided into TFT, UFB, TFD, STN and other types. My dell 1501 LCD Screen belongs to TFT. Most of the laptop screens come to this category. TFT screen is thin film transistor, which is an active matrix type liquid crystal display. For it sets back in special fluorescent tubes, it can take the initiative on the screen to control each pixel independently, which is called the origin of active matrix TFT. That effectively improves the ability of playing the dynamic images. You want know more about the differences among the TFT,UFB, TFD, STN and other types.

LED, that is Light Emitting Diode, can be divided into two categories: First, single-tube LED applications, including the backlight LED, infrared LED, etc.; the other is the LED display. It uses low-voltage scan driver with: low power consumption, long life, low cost, high brightness, a small fault, big angle, distance and other visual characteristics.

By comparing, LED are superior to LCD screen in brightness, power consumption, viewing angle and the refresh rate and so on, have more advantages. LED and LCD power consumption ratio is about 10:1, and higher refresh rate makes the LED have better video performance which can provide extremely wide angle of 160 °. Also it can display a variety of text, numbers, color images and animation information as well as broadcast television, video, VCD, DVD and other color video signals. The responding speed of LED display in individual elements is 1000 times as the LCD. In bright light, it can be used and also adapt to the low temperature of 40 degrees below zero. LED technology, can produce thinner, brighter, clearer displays with a wide range of applications.

Simply, LCD and LED are two different display technologies. LED displays have advantages in brightness, power consumption, viewing angle and the refresh rate and so on.At present, the prevailing one is the LCD screen applying in the laptop display. Thus it's not easy to distinguish one from the other by eyes. The only way is to find a veteran to check it.
