The iMac Repair For G5 Capacitors
The problem with the iMac G5 is that it has at least two different manufacturing defects. In the first place, the capacitors
on the logic board are of poor quality. In the second place it has it has defective power supplies, and this is usually the
result of poor quality capacitors as well. In some model of the iMac computer, the capacitors will possibly leak and swell
after some period of time. This failure is absolutely unpredictable.
Although several years ago Apple released some serial numbers could have been related to this problem, the problem isn't only
limited to simply those serials numbers because any iMac G5 may be affected with the problem. This doesn't mean that that
you need to replace all of the capacitors in your iMac G5 with good quality capacitors, however, it is something that you
need to be aware of if you own an iMac computer.
First of all, you should inspect the capacitors in your iMac G5 visually by removing the back panel. Then you need to look
for symptoms that include anytime your iMac G5 acts up such as when you have unexplained crashing with certain applications,
trouble booting, trouble shutting down, video freezing like when you connect to your system externally but the display won't
change, and video distortion. All of these problems could be related to bad capacitors.
There are many iMac computer repair shops on the Internet that will replace the capacitors in your iMac G5 for a flat rate
which is far less than the cost of a new computer. There are some repair shops who will tell you that you need a new logic
board but that isn't true so don't let them charge you for one. If you can use a screwdriver, you can check the capacitors to
ensure that they are good. Put the iMac G5 on its front side and loosen the three screws that can be found on the bottom of
the display. Carefully lift the back panel away from the display. If you see that the capacitors are leaking or swollen they
need to be replaced. Then you know that you need a repair shop to replace them.
In addition, there are repair shops on the Internet that will accept capacitor repairs that are mailed in. Usually, you will
be responsible for the shipping cost to them but many of them will pay for the shipping back to you. All you have to do is
make sure that you include the problems you're having, your email address, your phone number, and name.
