Recovering data when your system hangs after a black screen in Windows XP
Most of the computer users, like me, have evolved with Windows XP, which is regarded as the first customer-oriented operating system from Microsoft. There are lots of salient features of XP such as faster start-up, the ability to perform driver rollback, rich user interface, Remote Desktop functionality to connect to other users and use their resources, etc.
However, just like every other thing in the world, an XP system is prone to corruption. Corruption occurs due to various reasons such as power surges, human errors, abrupt system shutdown, virus infections, corrupt file system, etc. In such cases, you should use appropriate corrective measures to rectify the issue. However, if you are unable to do so then you should use a third-party Windows data recovery software to recover Windows files.
Consider a scenario wherein your Windows XP system is unable to boot. It passes the Power On Self Test (POST) but after that a black screen is displayed and the system hangs after that.

Following causes might lead to this situation:

Resolution for Cause 1:

Remove the media from your CD, DVD, or floppy drive and then restart the system.
Resolution for Cause 2: To resolve this cause, you need to have Windows XP CD. You can perform the following methods:

Troubleshoot the specific component that causes Windows not to load. In this method, you need to determine the exact component that is missing.

Repair Windows installation. However, you would lose valuable data using this method.
Further, if you are not able to address this situation after performing the aforementioned methods then you should use a third-party Windows data recovery software to recover windows files.
