Dell Inspiron Duo Touchscreen - Making the most out of your computer
Touchscreens have been around for quite some time. One of the earliest users of the touchscreen was the food service industry. No longer do cash registers have to be large pieces of equipment that have hundreds of dedicated keys. With a touch screen you can have as many keys as you could ever want that can be accessed with a press of a button. While the Dell Inspiron Duo touchscreen shouldn't be used for commercial purposes (or at least, it isn't meant to) it does make a great touchscreen laptop, or tablet, for practically anyone needing a touchscreen.
Firstly, the free Dell Duo is neither a laptop nor a touchscreen laptop. It is in fact a hybrid between a laptop and a netbook. Thanks to an innovative screen design that allows you to flip the screen around and rest it on top of the keyboard, this laptop can transform into a tablet in just seconds. This is great for a number of reasons. Firstly, laptops and tablets both have their pitfalls. Laptops are generally large and unsightly for presentations. They are great for doing work, however, such as typing up a report or editing a photo. Tablets aren't so great at typing up reports or doing the work but they are extremely portable and perfect for anyone who needs a mobile presentation station.
The free Dell Duo is also a great fiscal choice for people to make. Laptops and tablets use the same type of computer technology. They all have ram, a hard drive and a processor. When you have a single unit that does both the tablets and netbooks job you're able to save money because you only have to buy a single set of computer components. Instead of buying two separate 500 dollar units you can buy a single unit for 600. Saving money is a priority for many people especially with today's economy and the free Dell Inspiron Duo is a great way to cut back on spending.
The technical specs are up to par and surpass many comparable netbooks and tablets. It houses a dual core processor that is rated at a clockspeed of 1.5 GHz. This is almost twice as fast as other netbooks. Most tablets have a single core processor that is rated at 1.0 GHz. The iPad is a perfect example of this. The Dell Duo free also has 2 gigs of ram which perfectly complement the speed of this particular processor. The screen is 720p and is 10 inches when measured diagonally. This is perfect because the pixel density on this screen is huge. Most 32 inch TVs have a pixel density a third of this screen. The more pixels per square inch, or pixel density, the better off you are. Each pixel is capable of representing a single color at any given point in time. The more pixels you have the better the screen looks.
