What is the Role of a Video Card and Its Driver for Windows system?
A piece of hardware that helps a computer screen to show Pictures and Videos is known as Video Card or Video Adapter or Video Controller or Display Card/Adapter. This element of hardware holds necessary memory space as well as circuitry that bring photos and other visual graphics on our computer screen. The software program that runs this hardware as per the syntaxes written is called Video Card Driver. The video card driver translates common graphics into digital directions resulting in more clear pictures and graphics comes on our computer screen.
This component is an essential part of motherboard of computer hence it comes readily installed and generally its drivers are available in all the Operating Systems, I mean whatever Operating System you installed on to your PC, the relevant video card drivers will automatically catch the component and let it function smoothly. But hardware manufactures frequently updates drivers in their endeavors to make their component better by removing errors or bugs. This is one of the situations when you need to install updated driver to function your PC without problems.
The need to replace the driver will also arise whenever you decide to replace operating system of your computer. For example if you replace Windows by Vista, then you may need to replace your video card driver and the hardware manufacturer's website is the best place to find, if you don't have a compact disc that comes with the hardware.
If the manufacturers close their business (in a rare case) you can search for the best driver on the internet. Various directories will have the video card driver you want. Look for the driver that matches your hardware model as well as the operating system you have on your PC. But remember, you must scan the downloaded driver for viruses before installing on to your computer.
This way you can install the updated driver and ensure smooth and/or better functioning of your computer.
